Last and final entry.... I think
Well, I finished my internship a week or something ago and I am still feeling the pain of withdrawals. Man I miss that place. Everyone was totally cool, I made a ton of friends, and to top it all off... I miss the city. I dont think I am suprised with liking working for the show as much as I am suprised that I LOVE New York. What an awesome place. I love the busyness, the fact that there's always some freakshow close around to make you feel normal.
But back to the show. I think I have made a good impression, because after finding out that audience coordinator is leaving (which means that the intern coordinator, my boss, will be filling the spot) a few people implied that I was on a very short list of people they want to fill her spot. I'm going to TRY! not to worry about it, and if it happens, it happens, but I am just so excited about even being a possibility. So cross your fingers for me.
On a more negative note, I have been applying for jobs for a solid 2 months now and I have gotten NO replies. Very frustrating, since as according to Ginger, "You look great on paper!" (what about in person, dammit!) =) I have applied to all sorts of jobs, not even being picky at this point, and NOTHING. SO I am currently in DC, living off my sugar daddy. Maybe I should learn how to cook and clean now, at least TRY to be a good wife. =)
Well, as you probably already know, as time went on at the show, things that would be very weird to others became total commonplace, so it's very hard to think of anything exciting to write about. But in retrospect, I got to meet (or at the very least check out) a lot of celebrities. I had access to an unreal amount of their information that I am sure if I was some psycho, I could have done some serious damage. I did a lot of reading of trashy entertainment magazines. I opened a lot of useless promotional material for my bosses, so much that I now understand why an advertising budget for a film can be in the upwards of 10 million dollars. Some of the shit they got is UNBELIEVEABLE! I mean come on, a box came for the matrix without a key, (it came days later) with at least several hundreds of dollars worth of stuff. DO you really think that WB had to advertise THAT movie... ?? But I digress... what else? I've just had such an incredible time working for free that I shutter to think how much I will love the place once I actually get paid. =)
To anyone who is remotely interested in doing something like I did.... it's really not that hard. I worked with as many idiots as cool people. I opened a lot of resumes and cover letters to tell ya, it's more about luck than anything. I got EXTREMELY lucky, I was just a regular black and white resume among a sea of others, and I have now had the opportunity to experience so much. So thanks to whomever, God, Karma, Fate, whatever the governing body may be. =)
Thanks for reading my weblog. I will start a new one for whatever job I end up getting. Lucky for you, huh? =) j/k
